Frequently Asked Questions

Beginning the journey toward healing and finding a therapist can evoke a lot of different emotions. While it can be exciting and relieving, it can also be difficult, overwhelming, and scary. I hope you take the time to notice what comes up for you, and to be gentle!

I've created a list of common questions that may be helpful! If you have a specific question that is not on this list, please reach out and I am happy to provide an answer.

I've never been to therapy before. What can I expect?

Our first few sessions will be geared toward getting to know one another, and gaining a better understanding of what has been going on. We will work on creating a detailed treatment plan focused on what you hope to gain from the experience. Then, we will begin exploring interventions to address the specific challenges and goals identified.

How can therapy help me?

Therapy sessions are geared toward creating a safe, supportive environment to process through memories from the past, stressors from the present, and hopes for the future. One size does not fit all - this experience can be tailored to meet your needs and situation.

How often will we meet?

It depends! Typically, I meet with clients once per week, but it can also vary. During our first couple sessions, we will have an open dialogue about your hopes and my recommendations to determine how often we meet.

What are the benefits of tele-therapy?

I have found that the greatest benefit is increased access to therapy for a wider range of clients. Beyond that, clients see similar results as they do with in-person therapy.

How do I know if my therapist is a good fit for me?

The first 3-4 sessions can feel awkward and vulnerable. Give it some time and begin noticing if you start to feel more comfortable. If not, I encourage you to have an honest discussion about it.
